The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is the world’s largest modeling, simulation, and training conference. Held November 27th – December 1st at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA, I/ITSEC consists of peer-reviewed paper presentations, tutorials, special events, professional workshops, a commercial exhibit hall, a serious games competition, and STEM events for teachers and secondary students. I/ITSEC is organized by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA), which promotes international and interdisciplinary cooperation within the fields of modeling and simulation (M&S), training, education, analysis, and related disciplines at this annual meeting. The NTSA is an affiliate subsidiary of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). Hence, I/ITSEC also emphasizes themes related to defense and security.

Amanda Palla, Vertex Solutions’ Director of Government Operations, will be presenting a paper titled Developing an Immersive Virtual Reality Aircrew Training Capability on November 30th at 11:30 AM in Room S320E. Ms. Palla will detail the analysis and design of a virtual reality part task trainer developed for the United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). The presentation will focus on the front-end analysis process, the design of the system (including instructional and practice modes, an intelligent tutor, and hardware and software selections), the results of initial user testing, and proposed future enhancements.
