Amanda Palla, Vertex Solutions’ Director of Government Operations, received an Honorable Mention, Best Paper for her paper titled Developing an Immersive Virtual Reality Aircrew Training Capability. Of the 129 accepted papers at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), only 6 received Best Paper and 6 received Honorable Mention, Best Paper.
This paper details the analysis and design of a virtual reality part task trainer developed for the United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). The presentation will focus on the front-end analysis process, the design of the system (including instructional and practice modes, an intelligent tutor, and hardware and software selections), the results of initial user testing, and proposed future enhancements.
The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is the world’s largest modeling, simulation, and training conference. Held November 27th – December 1st at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA, I/ITSEC consisted of peer-reviewed paper presentations, tutorials, special events, professional workshops, a commercial exhibit hall, a serious games competition, and STEM events for teachers and secondary students. I/ITSEC is organized by the National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA), which promotes international and interdisciplinary cooperation within the fields of modeling and simulation (M&S), training, education, analysis, and related disciplines at this annual meeting.
